<p>More impressions and notes on cool new products I saw, and vendors I met, but this post is dedicated to Allan Dalton and his Keynote Address on &#8217;Leveraging Your Social Media Links!&#8217;</p>
<p>If you don&#8217;t know Allan, he&#8217;s a brilliant guy: one of the most on topic, articulate and also entertaining people I have ever had the opportunity to listen too and know.  When Allan speaks, people stop in their tracks! Today was no different as he brought forth a heavy dose of &#8217;social networking reality&#8217; for real estate agents everywhere. And he certainly deserved the standing ovation he received.</p>
<p><strong>Here is Some of Allan&#8217;s Wisdom from, &#8216;Leveraging Your Social Media Links!&#8217;:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Gets it rolling by quoting John Wooden, &#8220;<em>Never mistake activity for achievement.&#8221;</em> And by the way, we couldn&#8217;t agree more about <a href="http://kineticknowledge.com/blog/best-blogging-practices/sales-analyze-traffic-data/" target="_blank">focusing on converting activity</a>!</li>
<li>Content is the asset: social networking is a tool, but irrelevant without content.</li>
<li><em>&#8220;Without content there is no trust, without trust there is no relationship, without relationship there is no transaction, without transaction thee is no fee, without fee there is no career and without career there is no security.&#8221; </em></li>
<li>Social networking and content [social media] must be integrated.  Relevant content solves problems. You must solve problems for consumers or your networking is irrelevant. How many friends you have solves no problem. Fail to solve problems, you make no money. </li>
<li>Allan coins the word &#8216;contentsequences&#8217;.</li>
<li>Apply the &#8216;long tail&#8217; theory to your web presence and be relevant for lots of key words and phrases. Some depth here on, and an example of, <a href="http://kineticknowledge.com/blog/best-blogging-practices/the-long-tail-and-search-engine-visibility/" target="_blank">how the &#8216;long tail&#8217;theory can apply for business</a> including how a business may generate less search discovery per individual variation of it&#8217;s most sought after key phrase, but how the collective impact of those variations can be much greater.</li>
<li>Real Estate Agents should think more like politicians. They should triangulate on local events and pressing issues. Some one opens a restaurant, be the one to announce it. You have a voice [blog] and an audience [<a href="http://kineticknowledge.com/blog/blogging-content/disintermediation-and-blogs/" target="_blank">see disintermediation</a>], use them.</li>
<li>Use social media as links back to your brand!</li>
<li>If your goal is to make good change and to help people it will be reflected in your social networking.</li>
<li>Focus on Creating Your Own Real Estate Social Network!</li>

Their business depends on loyal search activity. Logically speaking, a platform that makes it simple and cost- efficient to publish is more likely to be active&#8230; and more activity draws more interest from those same [needy] search engines. Even better, a platform that not only calls to, but that&nbsp;eases the consumption of topics [keywords &amp; key phrases]&nbsp;for those same [needy] search engines is ideal.&quot;</em></font></p>
<p><font size="2"><strong>Que.</strong> </font><strong><font size="2"><em>&quot;What is better about your blog technology than the next company?&quot;</em><br />

<p><font size="2"><strong>Ans.</strong> <em>&quot;I&nbsp;believe there are companies that&nbsp;offer good technology out there. We use a <a target="_blank" href="http://kineticknowledge.com/blog/wordpress/understanding-wordpress/"><strong>modified version of WordPress</strong></a>, which I believe is the most universally used </em><em>blogging software. It&#8217;s also incredibly user- friendly software that can be as optimized for search engine indexing as any we&#8217;ve ever seen. And we&#8217;ve worked with a few. We have some of the top people, including two of the original WP development team, managing our platform. Together we monitor and deploy&nbsp;core WordPress updates&nbsp;and then the most important features coming out of the open source community. It&#8217;s leading edge, but we&#8217;re careful to evaluate and then to tweak and improve. Remember, the web and search engines are always changing and we&#8217;re working to meet that challenge&#8230; so that you don&#8217;t ever have too.&nbsp;Never to underestimate good technology, you should be LESS concerned about blog technology than you should be about <a target="_blank" href="http://realestateblogsites.com/2008/05/14/13-real-estate-blogging-ideas/"><strong>blog content</strong></a>. Google wants to level the playing field for technology so that they can gather more and more content. The folks that truly want a competitive advantage know to be focused&nbsp;MORE on their content. They know to be&nbsp;consistent, to be on- topic, to be educated&nbsp;about better blog writing techniques [<a target="_blank" href="http://kineticknowledge.com/blog/linking/inbound-links-and-business-blog/"><strong>backlinks</strong></a>, outbound links, <a target="_blank" href="http://kineticknowledge.com/blog/linking/deep-internal-linking/"><strong>deep internal links</strong></a>, <a target="_blank" href="http://kineticknowledge.com/blog/content/raise-page-rank-with-anchor-text/"><strong>anchor text</strong></a>, <a target="_blank" href="http://realestateblogsites.com/2008/05/26/direct-subscription-to-your-real-estate-blog/"><strong>inviting subscription</strong></a>&nbsp;and much, much more] and the many things they can leverage through content.&quot;</em></font></p>

A good business blog will generate a <strong>2)</strong> human online presence so that you can more readily appeal to those researching what you have to offer and sell. This, at least&nbsp;in my view, is modern public relations, brand reinforcement <a target="_blank" href="http://kineticknowledge.com/blog/content/your-advertorial-blogging-message-must-demonstrate-value-add/"><strong>value add and the development of </strong></a><a target="_blank" href="http://kineticknowledge.com/blog/content/your-advertorial-blogging-message-must-demonstrate-value-add/"><strong>trust</strong></a>. And then finally, there is <strong>3)</strong> direct subscription. Modern day direct marketing is a result of a blog&#8217;s built in &#8216;really simple syndication&#8217; capability. <p>It was an honor to support the launch of <a title="Online Referral Networking" target="_blank" href="http://prorealestatecity.com/">Pro Real Estate City</a>&nbsp;and our friend Scott Forcino. With <a title="PREC Blog" target="_blank" href="http://blog.prorealestatecity.com/">PREC</a>&nbsp;Scott supports the local Realtors&nbsp;ability to host their own relationship-marketing portal. There,&nbsp;they are&nbsp;completely empowered to&nbsp;support online communication with a private network of clients, friends, real estate industry professionals and&nbsp;local business owners.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>
