Real Estate Blogsites enjoys a great week in Las Vegas at NAR 2007

It was an honor to support the launch of Pro Real Estate City and our friend Scott Forcino. With PREC Scott supports the local Realtors ability to host their own relationship-marketing portal. There, they are completely empowered to support online communication with a private network of clients, friends, real estate industry professionals and local business owners.  

It was also great to see old friends and to spend quality time with new friends, including Real Estate Industry luminaries like Ralph Roberts and his trusted Lois Maljak.

Realtor 2.0 Technologies discussed and showcased in Anaheim, California October 9th 2007

The California Association of Realtor’s Annual Expo is arguably the number one event for the 500,000 licensed Realtors in California. This Years Expo at the Anaheim Convention Center has a special day dedicated to Real Estate Technology.

‘Tech Tuesday’ (October 9th 2007) focuses around the changes that the Real Estate industry is facing with the advent of new technology. The day aims to help train attendees on this technology as well as provide them with information. There are a range of speakers as well as a luncheon.

Part of their method is to show Realtors that some of the old methods of doing business in Real Estate are no longer working and that these new Real Estate 2.0 Technologies are the future of the industry. Blogging is part of this ‘new Real Estate’ there is even a seminar on Tech Tuesday called "411 on Blogging - Turning Online Leads into Profit"

If you are at the convention this week it would definitely be worth attending the ‘Tech Tuesday.’

In its California Real Estate Magazine the association talks on the benefits of new technology

In this months California Real Estate Magazine the California Association of Realtors discusses "Generation 2.0" or for short "Gen 2.0"  - The New Real Estate.

The article compares old methods of generating business and newer ones which utilize the latest in Real Estate Technology. However the benefits of using new technology are of course not just benefiting agents but also clients and prospective clients. The National Association of Realtors estimates that now over 80% of prospective homebuyers now begin their search for a property online rather than the traditional method of contacting a Real Estate Agent first.

NAR study’s have found that the number one reason agents lose clients is that they do not return emails or calls promptly. Using todays technology of cell phones, on the road email and blogging (particularly an RSS feed) ensures that clients receive alot of information about a property or a neighborhood quickly and easily.

The new technology (particularly Web 2.0) allows real time responses and it caters to what consumers want. Old methods of generating business are no longer valid in this business environment and agents need to utilize the technology around them to help generate leads and profit. As the article says "The Web 2.0 revolution is about making technology more accessible and easier to use" and in Real Estate this is particularly important as there are so many options at the agents fingertips - Real Estate Blogging for SEO, Google Maps Mash-Ups, PDA’s using mobile email and more.
