Yahoo! to introduce new Text Messaging feature to Yahoo! Mail
Popular Web-Mail Site to allow users to send text messages to cell phones
This brand new feature of Yahoo! Mail will of course have obvious implications for personal users, but will also have great uses for business users.
The lines between SMS Text messages and modern email are becoming increasingly blurred with the advent of devices such as Blackberry’s and the new iPhone the uses for just text messages are diminishing.
Texting of course is great for short exchanges, such as "meet later" or "can’t talk in meeting" or similar. However this new announcement by Yahoo! could be great for Real Estate professionals to use to contact clients with short messages. For example, as an agent wanting to meet clients at a property who has been caught up in a meeting and then paperwork, they can quickly send a text from their email letting the client know on their cell phone that you are on the way.
It eliminates the somewhat cumbersome nature of a telephone keypad input and allows a greater deal of flexibility as it allows communication whilst on the move.
It is another communication avenue between you and potential clients/existing clients – even if you were to just text a client to let them know (while they are at work) that you have emailed them some property to consider – it increases the level of dialogue between agent and client.
