Googlebots and how to know if they've visited you

We talk a lot on Real Estate Blogsites about your search engine optimization and being found on the internet by these search engine systems.

What we don’t talk much about about is:  How do these search engines actually find your site?

Well the most popular engine, Google, has a word for it: "Googlebot".  It kinda has a nice ring to it, don’t you think?  Kinda like "Beatlejuice".

Simply put, a Googlebot (or web crawler) cruises around the internet and looks for useful information that can then be catalogued and indexed by the search engine, Google.  The Googlebot has been programmed to look for attributes that best represent the information someone is searching for on the internet.  It is a very complicated process.

So how do you know if a Googlebot has visited your site?

Google has just released a way to find these statistics on their official website.  This is where I get off the train, but below you will find a link to the post.

Thanks for sharing this information, Google. I know it will help those more advanced than me.
